The Besom exists to form a bridge between those who want to give and
those in need. Since we came together we have established
relationships with a number of organisations and social services
teams who work alongside people in need.
A service to people who have something to give
People may want to give things,
time or money and for us the emphasis is on making it easy for
people to give, matching what they have to offer to a person’s need
that has been identified by their social workers or health
professionals. It enables effective giving where the giver can see
the difference their giving makes.
How you can be involved
There are three main ways to get
involved through:
-
Giving good quality things
(new or nearly new) – we can generally arrange collection
-
Giving time to help on
the van collecting or delivering, sorting items already given or
even using your DIY skills to help transform somebody’s home or
garden.
-
Giving money to for
specific projects or indeed to cover the basic operating
expenses of the local office such as insurance, phone,
stationary and postage.

“The Besom
only take the best quality items and deliver them straight
out to the women - so we don’t have to try and store
anything at the refuge, which is excellent”
- Jean, Worcester

“It was a pleasure
to help an organisation that does so much for others
especially as 20 years ago I was in a similar need as the
lady I gave two beds to – and nobody was there to help me”
– Cherie, a giver from Worcester
