The
Besom in Woking started in September 2006 as a result of many
conversations about helping people in our local area, and as a
result of attending the annual Besom Conference, which we found
inspiring and activating!
We form a bridge between the churches in Woking and the local
community. We take what people want to give, their time or money,
skills or things, and we find someone in need, referred to us by
Social Services, who would love to receive those things.
We also have a brand new red van which has been given to us, and our
warehouse was kindly given by one of the team - a single garage.
The core team meet every week to pray for the needs in our area. We
also have an information and planning evening on once every month.
This is for anyone interested in finding out more about us and the
opportunities available over the next month. This meeting is also
for the simply curious.

Giving Time
Individually - Come out on the van
with us for collections and deliveries and see how Besom works. Or
help sort the bags of clothes etc. ready for sending out. Our van
days are Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings.
As a group - Decorating, cleaning or gardening - just tell us what
you would like to do, how many you are, and we will arrange a
project for you.
Giving things
You can give anything, things from
sofas to beds, kettles to cutlery sets, clothes to vacuum cleaners
to carpets, and a whole lot more! We can collect from your home. We
only accept things that are in good or excellent condition, because
we want to give the very best to those who have no choice.
Giving skills
Are you a carpenter, an
electrician, a decorator, a carpet fitter or just a dab hand at DIY?
We'd love to use whatever you have to offer.
