Woking

The Besom in Woking started in 2006 as a result of people feeling that they were being prompted to address the needs in their local community and, as Christians, to be seen to be making a positive difference.

What we do

Besom is a bridge between those who want to give and those in need in our community. We work with many Woking churches, including Christchurch, The Coign, St Mary of Bethany, St Paul’s, The Woking Vineyard, St. Andrew’s Goldsworth Park, and Holy Trinity Knaphill. We have found that many people are willing to help but don’t know how, or where the need is. Besom aims to make those first steps easy and fun. Besom is well networked with local organisations, including Social Services, the women’s refuge, and others.

Prayer Support

You can become part of our prayer support, and pray for the Besom, the churches it serves and the recipients and social workers we work with.

HOW YOU CAN GIVE THROUGH THE BESOM IN WOKING

Giving time

Individually – come out on the van with us for collections and deliveries and see how Besom works. Or help sort in the warehouse, to prepare things for sending out.

Our van days are Wednesdays, Fridays, and the occasional Saturday morning.

As a group

Decorating, cleaning or gardening – just tell us what you would like to do, how many you are, when you would like to do it, and we will arrange a project for you.

Giving Things

You can give anything, from sofas and beds to kettles, to vacuum cleaners; anything that goes in a home.

We only accept things that are excellent condition, because we want to give the very best to those who have no choice.

Giving skills

Are you a carpenter, an electrician, a decorator, carpet fitter or just a dab hand at DIY? We’d love to use whatever you have to offer.
