The Besom in Ryedale
The Besom in Ryedale serves a large rural area of North Yorkshire between York and Scarborough. It began life in March 2009 after many months of prayer and is now run by an enthusiastic core team of six people who represent four churches from towns and villages across the district. Our offices are based in the town of Malton but we are committed to serving the towns and villages right across Ryedale.
Who we are
We are Christians who believe that the church should be reaching out to those in need in our local area. Our aim is to bless people in Ryedale who need help and we do this by arranging the giving of time, skills, things or money. The Besom is a practical ministry which enables believers to reach out to the poor according to what people actually want and need, not according to what we think they need.
What we do
The core group of The Besom in Ryedale pray and organise, but the projects they run are actually carried out by ordinary Christians who offer to give their services. We are here to help you help others. You can give as little or as much as you want. You can give some time, say an afternoon to do some decorating for a single mum, or offer your skills, perhaps to fix a broken garden fence, or maybe you have good quality furniture you don’t need any more? Alternatively you may want to give a donation towards buying tools or paint or office paper.
When we know of a need we pray until the need is met by those who feel called to offer to help.

If you are a Christian in Ryedale then The Besom is there to serve you. We are in touch with local care professionals in order to find those individuals and families who you might like to help. We organise projects, provide all the materials and equipment and support you throughout. Whether you want to give as an individual or as a group, we will help you to reach out and bless others in a way that transforms lives.
