Giving Money
The Besom enables you to give money to something that concerns you and ensures that 100% of what you give will go to that need. There is a vast amount of work that can be done through charitable giving both at home and abroad.
Where many of the major charities assist, very effectively, is in the provision of relief- food, clothing, medical supplies and temporary shelter- for those suffering from famine, war, internal dissension or natural disaster. This work is essential, but so too, is the creation of sustainable, long-term solutions to the underlying problems.
Projects funded through The Besom are always long-term, of a capital nature, and aim to permanently improve the quality of life of a community. The nature of a project, provided that it falls within these parameters, can have to do with anyone in need: the physically or mentally afflicted, prisoners, children, addicts, the poor or starving, long-term refugees, the sick, the homeless.
Projects are usually fairly compact and their results visible within a comparatively short time.
The Besom has been established for use by individuals who may already give generously to charities, but often in an unstructured and spontaneous fashion.
Projects
The Besom hopes that if you decide to give money, you will also specify where and how you would like your money to be spent, either geographically and/or to specific groups of needy people (provided that this falls within The Besom's funding guidelines). You will be kept informed of the progress of every project you support by way of a fact sheet, and The Besom would be delighted if you make suggestions as to follow-up projects or new ones that could be adopted.
Administration
Any money given through The Besom is used solely for the purpose for which it is given. All administrative costs are covered by funds given specifically for this purpose, therefore 100% of funds given for projects goes directly to the project.
To give money please contact your local besom or Chris McCullagh on 0207 223 0119.
