Ealing
Besom in Ealing started operations in 2001. We serve
the local communities of Ealing, Acton, Greenford and Northolt. In our
first three years, givers have helped around 70 local families.
What we do
Besom in Ealing accepts gifts of good quality clothes,
children’s toys and books, kitchen equipment, furniture and other
household items. We want to bless families with the very
best! Clothes, toys and small household items are sorted and packed in
our shed, then delivered to families. We have a team that sorts on
some Thursday evenings and Friday mornings. Homegroups also often give
an evening to help sort clothes. Van runs are done every Thursday
evening, to collect and deliver furniture.
Homegroups from Ealing churches get involved in
gardening and decorating projects. These help families living in
shabby, run-down accommodation to improve, brighten and beautify their
homes, making them more comfortable and pleasant places to live.
Each December, women’s small groups make up Christmas
hampers and deliver them to families we have helped during the year.
Generally, the families we help are referred by social
services and other agencies. We have also linked up with the Ealing
churches soup kitchen. We take clothes there, for the people coming to
the soup kitchen to choose from.
God’s
heart for the poor
Through all this we aim to help people to understand
more of God’s heart for giving to the poor. Prayer is vital to our
work. We are amazed and encouraged by the way God provides when we
call on him, matching things given with things needed.
